A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.
— Joseph Campbell

The tragic events surrounding hurricane Harvey in Houston has called up a community of heroes in Houston and across the United States.

We have been personally touched and inspired by the acts of our business partners and dear friends Adam and Emily Rust,  who have taken it upon themselves to reach out and provide vital services for those in harm’s way.

They have joined a number of community minded heros in the Tiki Island area just off Galveston Island and have literally rescued more than 300 people! They continue to set aside their personal needs to reach out and serve the less fortunate.

I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom.
— Bob Dylan

We have connected with Adam’s local church Hope City who has implemented a strategic approach to the effort.

  1. The Rescue phase will give way to the RELIEF PHASE in the next few days, and the need will be massive.

  2. We are enlisting volunteers and building teams that can be mobilized as soon as relief efforts are approved to begin and the immediacy of the rising water has subsided.

  3. We have connected with relief organizations like Convoy of Hope, Samaritan’s Purse, and others who specialize in logistics and prioritizing activities. We will be assisting them with volunteer teams wherever they are needed along with providing housing for relief workers and providing them additional support.

  4. Our teams, and those from other churches that have contacted Hope City, will be prepared to mobilize in the weeks ahead with supply distribution and community clean up efforts.

  5. We have committed the rest of 2017 Hope City’s Missions funds to help with relief efforts. We have also received generous gifts from many churches and individuals all across the nation. We will use 100% of these donations to help those in need. You can give online by clicking the link below, or text to give, by texting with work FLOOD followed by the amount to 844-515-2555.

  6. Our relief efforts will be a marathon. As time goes on, the immediate impulse of those wanting to help will evaporate. The waters will subside, the news teams will leave, but the intense need will continue for weeks, even months!

Please join us in giving to their efforts as every penny of your gift will get to the people on the ground. None of it is being used for anything but direct efforts on the ground!
